The Soul-Discover Poet
I am Chevel. I am known as Velly Vel on the stage and pen name, NuPink The Writer. I was born in London, England, on November 17, 1991, to a Jamaican mother and an English father. I moved to Trenton, NJ, with my mother and older brother when I was 2. Despite facing challenges in school due to my lazy eye and speech, I embarked on my poetic journey at a young age.
A POEM FROM "STUCK"
ENEMY
I am a star, but my light went dark
In the shadows of human thoughts
They cast spells, I embarked
The depression to their hurting
The anxieties of their worries
I lowered my frequency for their glory
I believed their words and their stories
Every lie they told; I took ownership
Every thought they stated I embedded
I became the person which was them
Now I must say, they have won.
